Since the hybrid superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) to solve the problems such as the larger volume of the superconducting components and the slow recovery time after the fault is removed has been developed, the plans to apply the hybrid SFCL into the real electrical power grid have been reported. Especially, the discussion for the protection coordination between the existing protective devices due to the introduction of the hybrid SFCL is more required together with the review from the whole viewpoint of the power system. In this paper, the experimental devices to simulate the operation of the hybrid SFCL as well as the protection coordination between the protective devices such as the over-current relay (OCR) were constructed and the protection coordination of the hybrid SFCL with the protective devices was analysed through the experiments. Through the analysis on the experimental results, among the various components comprising the hybrid SFCL, the current limiting resistor (CLR) was confirmed to affect the protection coordination between the OCR and the hybrid SFCL and the method to keep the protection coordination between the hybrid SFCL and the protective devices was discussed.-
