Abstract
This paper deals with a discrete-time admission control problem in a customized production system with state-dependent arrival rates. For sequentially arriving customer order the decision maker should decide on whether to admit it or not. The admitted customer order is completed with a probability in the next point in time. A cost is paid to search for customer orders, which called the search cost. In the context of search cost, the decision maker has an option whether to conduct the search or not. In the paper, we examine the properties of both optimal admission and optimal search policies to maximize the total expected profit. We show that the optimal admission policies have a concave unimodal property in the number of customer orders if customer arrival rate decreases.
