- Abstract
- We investigated the polarization-dependent Raman-active phonon spectra in a single domain of half-doped Eu(1/2)Ca(3/2)MnO(4) with charge-orbital ordering. While the Raman spectra in both polarizations commonly exhibit the robust development of two phonon modes, Jahn-Teller and breathing modes, below the charge-orbital ordering temperature, the intensities of the modes are found to be polarization dependent. These behaviors are discussed in relation to the CE-type ordering and the resultant electronic anisotropy.
