Abstract
This study aims to movement mechanical approach about Taekkyon kicking motion principles. The results of study is as follows: First, the kicking by wriggling knee is as follows. It is necessary in taekkyon kicking to kick by wriggling knee and to return quickly. The kicking by wriggling knee increase speed because short segment decrease the power loss. So the kicking increase speed and energy through whipping principle. Second, the comparison of kicking motion between taeckkyon and taekwondo is as follows. The kicking of taekwondo shows wide striking area and strong power but it don't show similar motion like wriggling motion(Gumsil) in taekkyon. The all motions of Taekwondo are snap-kicking. They are to damage to opponent as possible but Taekkyon forbids like these kicking motions. Taekkyon allows only thrust kicking. And Taekkyon step (Pumbalki) is preliminary motion of kicking because it is base of attack and defence. And the motion analysis of roundhouse kicking between Taekkyon(Durumchigi) and Tae- kwondo shows that the excellent group is faster than non-excellent group in the motions in both. Third, the result of twisted power in Taekkyon is as follows. The twisted power shows with the swaying motion(Neungchung) together in twisting kicking like Gyutchigi and Batchanchigi and it is on the axis of waist. In the Gyutchigi motion, The power from most twisted waist reacts to kicking tip toe so becomes powerful attack. This study shows the superiority of Taekkyon through western academic approach not a vague assertion that our traditional martial art is good. In order to promote Taekkyon as a worldwide sport, reperception of teakkyon should be created by approaching from modern study.
