- 이 논문은 1907년 평양대부흥운동의 발흥과 쇠퇴 원인을 사회학적인 관점, 특히 막스 베버의 카리스마 이론으로 분석한 연구이다. 이 부흥운동의 발흥은 카리스마적 리더십의 출현으로 가능하였으며, 그것이 쇠퇴한 원인도 그 리더십의 문제가 발생했기 때문이다. 이 운동은 베버가 주장한 카리스마의 영향력 그리고 그것의 불안정성과 일시성을 적용할 수 있는 사례이다.
