Abstract
This study is based on a series of recordings on preliminary matches for 2006 World Junior Curling Games held in Jeonju. Among the recorded material, the subjects are like this : including six male and female foreign teams, who each won each first, second and third places, and both Korean curling teams, male and female, so total eight teams, 32 players, and 903 strategy. In order to conduct this study, all the games were taped by 6mm camcorder, then the material was noted in paper into date. in order to lift the level of validity, three quality specialists who have studied more than seven years of curling watched, analyzed and discussed the games. The frequency were in process into percentage. According to each team, each position, each end, first or last throwing turn, the first half(first five ends), the second half. In order to find strategic frequency differences between Korean and foreign teams, by SPSS12.0, analysis was proceeded, and then x2 verification was performed. These research methods and processes can lead to the following results. First, There were significant differences in both draw and takeout strategy, male or female. Second, There were significant differences in both middle and end periods: 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th ends. Third, As for positioning strategy, there were significant differences for seond and third in both Korean and foreign teams. There were no differences shown in lead and skip. Fourth, As for strategies according to the first half and the second half, there were significant differences in the second half for both men and women teams.
