북한 공연예술의 특징과 ‘아리랑’의 사회문화적 기능에 관한 고찰

Abstract

The aim of this research is to clarify the character of North Korean Art and analysis of the overall characteristics and the meaning about the Arirang Mass Gymnastics, which has been held in PyongYang since 29th of April 2002. Korean peninsula has devided into two political group of ideology, which are the Democratic Party and the Communist Party, over 50 years. Since then, two different ideas and values of culture including performing arts have coexisted in Korean peninsula.

Every nation has their own cultures and traditions through the process of history. And the characteristics of culture and tradition are related to people's lives and formed within the style of literature and art. Therefore, it is important to understand the basic concept and characters of cultural performances and products in order to clarify the overall situation of each nation's ideology. In this matter, I analyzed the symbol and meaning of the 'Adrirang', which is a North Korean comprehensive performance for 100 years, and also defined the political and social meaning through the analysis.
