- Abstract
- The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of aerobic and resistance training on body composition and health locus of control in chronic stroke patients. The chronic stroke patients who were participating the program from two different senior welfare centers were volunteered in the study. Subjects were divided into two groups, one(men: 7, women: 6) is participated in the aerobic and strength training program(exercise group) and the other(men: 3, women: 5) is participated in the aerobic program(control group). They were tested for body composition including height, weight, and bodyfat. We also used the Multidimensional Health Locus of Control Scale by Wallston, Wallston, & DeVellis (18item, 1978). The tests were analyzed with using the repeated measure of two-way ANOVA. The study conclusions from this study summarized as follow: First, the weight and body fat in both exercise and control groups were decreased after 10 weeks of training. However, the weight and body fat did not show any significant difference in time, group and interactions with time and group. Second, the multidimensional health locus of control scale(internal factor, external factor & fortune) in exercise and control groups was shown in decreases after 10 weeks of training. The fortune factor among the multidimensional health locus of control scale showed significant difference in time((F=7.969, p<. 01).
