Abstract
This paper discusses university English education in Korea in terms of major issues and universities' efforts to cope with them for better results. The major issues dealt with in the paper are: English teaching by native speaker instructors, teaching English through English by Korean professors/instructors, ESP/EAP-based education, English education for industrial sectors' needs, multimedia-based English education, and non-curricular English education. Analysis of the questionnaire survey reveals that Korean universities in general mobilize every effort and resource available to help students enhance English proficiency. These concerted efforts of Korean universities are expected to yield students equipped with better communicative English proficiency in their work places after they graduate from universities.
