- Abstract
- Park Juneon. 2004. 2. 29. Reemerging Assimilationist Attitude on Language Use in the U. S. A. Bilingual Research 24, 109-126. This paper examined the fluctuation of the public attitudes toward the use of non-English languages in the United States of America. The currently resurging assimilationist attitude, as represented by the advocates of the English Only Movement, indicates the historically deep-rooted anti-multilingual psyche of the mainstream Americans. The regression toward the melting pot ideology in the U.S. casts an ominous shadow on the future of diverse ethnic minority languages used in the country.
