- Abstract
- There is interest in designing UWB antennas with band-notches to reject other narrowband communication frequencies to avoid interference. However, such band-notched characteristics inherently cause ringing in the time-domain, thereby distorting the transmitted (or received) UWB pulses. The level of distortion may depend on the bandwidth and strength of the band-notch, and it may degrade the performance of a short-pulse based UWB system. This letter examines the ringing effects of band-notches in the time-domain and proposes a method to mitigate the ringing effect in the received signal using the E-pulse technique. ? 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
