dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of parent’s supportive behaviour in youth physical activity on self-esteem in university students. In order to achieve research objectives, university students in Seoul and Gyeonggi area were selected for research subjects. Regarding the sampling method of the study subjects, it was investigated by the stratified cluster random sampling among probability sampling and 500 samples were collected. A total of 468 questionnaires were collected and 414 subjects were selected as valid samples except for 54 questionnaires where the answers were inadequate or missing. F or d ata analysis, AMOS 1 8.0 and SPSS 20.0 w ere used f or d escriptive a nalysis, c onfirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, frequency analysis, correlation analysis, independent samples t-test, and simple regression analysis. The results obtained from these research procedures and data processing methods are as follows. First, the study showed that parent’s supportive behaviour in physical activity and self-esteem are partially influenced by whether parents recommended physical activity to their children or not. But, there was statistically significant difference only in parent’s supportive behaviour in youth physical activity. Second, it is shown that parent’s supportive behaviour in physical activity and self-esteem are partially influenced by c urrent p hysical activity s tatus. B ut, there w as s tatistically s ignificant d ifference only in p arent’s supportive behaviour in youth physical activity. Third, it was found that parent’s supportive behaviour in physical activity affected children's self-esteem.-
