Abstract
Motivation is a key factor that leads to positive actions and positively improves individual and organizational outcomes. Members of organizations can be motivated in a variety of ways. We describe the role of perceived organizational support on levels of current motivation and the role of outcome expectancy as a future motivator. Organizational members with high levels of perceived organizational support can become more motivated. Furthermore, positive outcome expectancy can also have an impact on motivation. Thus, if organizational members perceive that they have organizational support in the present dimensions and outcome expectancy, they will be more motivated and more successful. We describe these performance-related variables in terms of job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behavior. However, motivation in present and future dimensions may have different impacts on job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behavior. The results showed that perceived organizational support had a positive impact on job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behavior. Furthermore, greater outcome expectancy improved the effect of perceived organizational support on job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behavior. This research emphasizes the importance of perceived organizational support for information technology workers and also explains the moderating role of outcome expectancy. Further, it contributes to a deeper understanding of the theory of perceived superiors' support and outcome expectancy. © 2018 Islamic Azad University.
