- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of thera-band resistance exercise and kinesio taping therapy on the reduction of wrist joint pain and the improvement in muscular function in elderly women. The elderly female subjects having wrist joint pain were selected at the I region, and divided into a band group(n=17), a taping group(n=17), and a control group(n=17). The treatments were conducted twice per week over an eight-week period. After that, we analyzed various changes such as visual analogue scale, flexion, extension, radial flexion, ulnar deviation, muscular strength, and grip strength. As a result, a statistically significant reduction in visual analogue scale was founded in the band and the taping group. Moreover, a statistically significant increase in flexibility was also noticed. In terms of muscle strength, however, only the band group showed a meaningful improvement. Overall, this study showed that thera-band resistance exercise and kinesio taping therapy have positive effects on the elderly women with wrist joint pain and muscular function.
