In this paper, we present a modified method to calculate the maximum permitted effective isotropic radiated power (EIRP) of a TV band device (TVBD) using location probability with a selective lognormal power sum algorithm to reduce approximation errors. A novel approach is proposed to decide the maximum permitted EIRP for a hybrid TVBD using both Geo-location database (DB) and a sensing technique. Using the proposed approach with a hybrid TVBD operating at a channel adjacent to active TV channel, it is possible to avoid harmful interference to a DTV receiver at the edge of DTV coverage in Korea. © 2015 IEEE.-
