Effectiveness of web-based instruction for creativity education in university student

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to analyze the creative thinking ability of university students in web-based instruction. Up to now the subject 'Creativity and Problem-solving' has been lectured face-to-face in a class as a general education curriculum, but it was developed newly as a web-based online lecture. And after conducting it for a semester, the effectiveness of this lecture on the improvement of the creative thinking ability of university students was validated. The participants were 176 university students who were selected among the classes for creativity conducted at Seoul area in Korea. The creativity test was developed to measure the participants' creative thinking ability, and the collected data were analyzed by t-test. The results showed that the creative thinking ability with 6 sub-factors were not significantly different between two groups. In addition, the methods of the creativity classes significantly influenced on creative thinking ability. The result of this research implies the direction for creativity education in future. © 2012 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
