dc.description.abstract | In this study, we investigate a method for vertical alignment of liquid crystal by irradiating UV light upon a mixture of nematic liquid crystal and photocurable monomer. The vertical alignment of the cell is achieved through the phase separated polymer thin film. We report that the electro-optic characteristics such as driving voltage and response time of this system are greatly improved compared to conventional vertical alignments method using polyimide. | - |
