Design and implementation of a spatial data processing engine for the telematics network

Abstract

This paper designs and implements a spatial data processing engine capable of efficiently analyzing the large amount of location history data collected from the Jeju taxi telematics system. Being a set of utilities and libraries, this engine can make it easy to analyze temporal relationship between the location record and combine with a digital map product. Our implementation of this engine and corresponding analysis tool can build a location tracker to provide a user interface for the spatio-temporal movement, extract the pick-up pattern to recommend an empty taxi to the hot customer spot, and generate raw speed data to activate a refined link speed analyzer. © 2008 Global Information Publisher (H.K) Co., Limited.
