dc.description.abstractThis paper addresses a low complexity residual filter to improve the coding performance of noisy video sequences. The additive noise decreases the coding efficiency and results in unpleasant coding artifacts due to higher frequency components. By incorporating local statistics and quantization parameter into filtering process, the spurious noise is significantly attenuated and coding efficiency is improved for given quantization step size. In addition, in order to reduce the complexity of the residual filter, the simplified local statistics and quantization parameter induced by analyzing H.264/AVC transformation and quantization processes axe introduced. The simulation results show the capability of the proposed algorithm. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.-
