Adaptive Mobile Multicast Guaranteed QoS over Heterogeneous Network

Abstract

Mobile multicast has been researched in the aspects of routing efficiency and reliability. It implicitly assumes that all networks support the same bandwidth. Even though this assumption, receipt bandwidth of a network is changed by MN's movement in red time environments. Therefore, we propose handoff mechanism to consider bandwidth's change with reliability. We propose LMRM(Layered Mobile Reliable Multicast protocol) that guarantees QoS(Quality of Service). LMRM is focused on bi-directional tunneling method. When handoff occurs, it configures tunnel within admitted layer so that it results in reducing a mount of congestion. Besides, it provides more effective QoS than previous schemes' one because of preventing packet loss caused by congestion when multimedia data is received. We provide QoS relying on layered multicast over mobile IP. LMRM can enable improved mobile multicast service in multimedia data.
