Reliable multicasting with low control signaling via regional location management for mobile hosts

Abstract

In this paper, we propose an EMP(Enhanced Multicast Protocol) for efficiently supporting multicast for mobile hosts on the IP network environments. The EMP that performs regional management [5] for host mobility not only decreased the cost for frequency of the multicast tree reconfiguration caused by remote-subscription but also mitigated signaling delay and packet losses caused by join/leave policy. The EMP, moreover, does not occur inefficient triangle routing and tunneling convergence problem [4] as a bi-directional tunneling mechanism. If the packet losses occur, it can be recovered from a RFA(Root of FA). So, this protocol can be reduced the overhead of recovery processing and we saw that proposed protocol reduced the cost of multicast delivery tree reconstructing as opposed to remote subscription. As a result, proposed BMP can be used global area than narrow area.
