- Abstract
- We discuss the role of deformation of the target nucleus in the fusion reaction of the C15+Th232 system at energies around the Coulomb barrier, in which C15 is a well-known one-neutron halo nucleus. To this end, we construct the potential between C15 and Th232 with the double folding procedure, assuming that the projectile nucleus is composed of the core nucleus, C14, and a valence neutron. In addition, we also take into account the coupling to the one-neutron transfer process to the C14+Th233 configuration. We show that such calculation simultaneously reproduces the fusion cross sections for the C14+Th232 and the C15+Th232 systems, implying an important role of the transfer coupling in fusion of neutron-rich nuclei. ©2021 American Physical Society.
