Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the recognition and values of participants in DanceSport as well as the ordinary people who have no experience on DanceSport, and suggest a development plan to positive recognition and values on DanceSport and encourage more people to join DanceSport by improving the recognition and values. This study analyzed the difference of the recognition and values according to the participation in DanceSport. To achieve the purpose, this study selected 320 people by purposeful sampling among participants in DanceSport as well as the ordinary persons who have no experience on DanceSport living in Seoul. 297 questionnaires(173 from participation group and 124 from non-participating group) were used and the other 23 questionnaires were deemed inappropriate. It consisted of a total of 21 questions, including 3 questions on demographic characteristics, 10 questions on dance sport recognition, and 8 questions on dance sport values. Analysis of collected data was performed via SPSS 25.0 for Window. Specific statistics methods including descriptive analysis, reliability analysis, frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, independent samples t-test, and one-way ANOVA were used. Significance level of all statistical values was α=.05 and Scheffe analysis was conducted for follow-up verification of significance level. Results obtained from this research are as follows. First, demographic characteristics of Dancesport participation group and non-participating group had an effect on recognition on DanceSport. There were statistically significant difference in age. Second, demographic characteristics of dance sports participation group and non-participating group had an effect on values on DanceSport. There were statistically significant difference in sex. Third, the difference in the recognition by the participation status showed higher mean in participating group, but did not show the statistically meaningful difference in 3sub-factors. Fourth, the difference in the values by the participation status showed higher mean in participating group, but did not show meaningful difference statistically.
