- Abstract
- 2021년 5월 24일 국가 인권 위원회는 보도자료를 통해 광주보건대학교 채플 의무 수강에 대한 결정문을 공개했다. 학교가 학생들에게 채플 수업을 의무수강하도록 하는 것은 종교의 자유를 침해하는 것이라 주장한 것이다. 그러나 이러한 인권위의 결정에는 많은 문제점이 발견된다. 본고는 광주보건 대학교 채플 관련 결정문을 비판적으로 살펴보면서 인권위의 최종판단의 근거 와 논리에 한계가 있음을 지적하고 이를 차례로 비판한다. 또한 채플과 예배에 대한 이해를 소개하면서 인권위의 채플 관련 판단은 이에 대한 몰이해로부터 기인하였음을 주장한다. 나아가 이번 광주보건대학교 채플 관련 인권위 사태 를 통해 불거진 인권위와 기독교 대학 사이 불필요한 오해와 마찰, 갈등을 피하기 위해 기독교 대학들이 채플을 운영하는데 필요한 몇 가지 대안, 종교교 육의 필요성 및 전반적 인식 공유, 종교교육의 전문화, 대체과목 개설과 개설시 유의사항의 내용들을 제시한다
