Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze the reciprocal longitudinal relationship between creativity and self-directed learning ability of adolescents. To conduct this study, the 1st year (2010, 4th grade elementary school), 3rd year (2012, 6th grade elementary school), 6th year (2015, 3rd grade middle school), and 9th year data (2018, 3rd grade high school) of ‘Seoul Education Longitudinal Study 2010 (SELS 2010)' were used. The final study subjects used for the analysis were 3,091 people, and the study data were analyzed using the autoregressive cross-lagged model. The study findings are as follows: First, creativity at the previous time point had a statistically significant positive effect on creativity at the next time point. Second, self-directed learning ability at the moment previously had a statistically significant positive effect on self-directed learning ability at the next time point. Third, creativity did not significantly affect self-directed learning ability at the next time point. Finally, self-directed learning ability had a significant effect on creativity at the next time point. The results of this study suggest that support efforts and strategies that increase adolescents' self-directed learning ability can have a significant effect on the creativity of adolescents.
