- Abstract
- This study analyzes the transmission and reception performance of a step-shape horn guide. We designed a step-shape horn guide whose reflection would not affect the received waves while maintaining transmission performance at the gradually expanded exit. The step size is defined as a factor of the radius of the sensor face. The received waves are identified using finite element analysis for ultrasound propagation. Experiments were performed with 3D-printed prototypes, and the results of finite element analysis were compared and verified. We found that a step size of half the wavelength improves reception while maintaining transmission performance.
