Abstract
To analyze AC series arc, the magnitude and shape of series arc current were presented. These were verified through the experiments using the arc generator. According to different types of the home appliances, the abnormality phenomenons were observed such as shouldering effect or high frequency components when the AC series arc generated. In this paper, two types of arc detect algorithm were influenced in time and frequency domain. The algorithm in time domain was suitable for detecting the arc in resistive load by comparing the zero crossing period (ZCP) data. The algorithm in frequency domain, which used the fast fourier transform (FFT), was proper to inductive load. The specific value of the ZCP data and waveform were used as the threshold in arc detect algorithm.
