- Abstract
- According to the increased use of various smart devices, indoor location trace techniques used in smart devices have been actively proposed. The need to study indoor location trace techniques has developed because they are needed in diverse services such as indoor navigation, store advertisements within a building, and understanding of floating population, etc. However, indoor location trace techniques are difficult to implement and tune because global positioning systems (GPS) are generally not suitable and there is no special devices which provide sufficient accuracy to establish indoor location. In this paper, we propose an accurate indoor locating technique. The proposed technique uses a combination of Wi-Fi fingerprinting and personal step detection and tracks user position by detecting personal steps and corrects errors with Wi-Fi fingerprinting. In our implementation and evaluation, we show that the proposed technique reduces error rate compared with other existing indoor location techniques. © 2016 International Information Institute.
