- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to learn about students' perception on international education, international competencies and learning outcomes in higher education. In order to understand the status quo of students' perception, a survey was conducted with 989 valid responses from students in 9 universities. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, t-tests and ANOVA. It was revealed that students' perception on the importance of international education was high, students desired competent foreign faculty and students in universities. International education had a positive impact on the growth of international competences and learning outcomes in higher education. Students, however, indicated that international courses for stimulating high levels of higher order thinking were not sufficient. The students' perceptions on international education varied according to experience of living abroad and the level of English proficiency. The results support the idea that the quality of international education needs to be improved in most universities. Furthermore, various program and teaching methods are needed in international education program.
