한국 산업계의 기후변화 대응 경쟁력 분석: 온실가스 에너지목표관리제 관리업체와 비 관리업체를 중심으로

Abstract

기후변화 리스크가 대두되면서 기업의 경쟁력이 약화 되는데 이를 평가하는 방안은 국내에는 비교적 적은 편이다. 본 연구는 공개된 자료와 각 기업에 설문을 통해 획득한 361개 기업의 자료를 사용하여 기후위험, 기후성과, 시장기회, 정책협력, 기후적응의 5가지 주제로 목표관리제에 참여하고 있는 기업과 참여하고 있지 않는 기업으로 나누어 기후변화에 대한 경쟁력을 측정하고 지표화하고자 하였다. 조사결과 우리나라 기업들은 기후성과 부문과 시장기회, 기후적응 부문이 상대적으로 취약한 것으로 나타났다. 대체적으로 목표관리제에 참여하고 있는 기업이 기후변화에 상대적으로 잘 대응하고 있는 것으로 나타났으나, 기업규모가 증대될수록 에너지소비 및 온실가스 배출비중이 높아기후 위험이 증가하는 것으로 나타났다.

The risks associated with climate change are becoming a serious issue. However, there has been little assessment of its impact on business competitiveness. Examining total number of 361 companies including companies listed in the ‘Greenhouse Gas & Energy Target Management System’ and those which are not listed, this study analyzes survey data for indices in five areas : climate risk, climate performance, market opportunities, policy and cooperation, and climate adaptation. The results of the analysis show that most companies are vulnerable when it comes to climate performance, market opportunity, and climate adaptation. Companies listed in the ‘Greenhouse Gas & Energy Target Management System’ are performing well in comparison with those that are not listed. In addition, for big size companies, the rate of increase in climate risk proportional to the rise in GHG emissions is greater than that of SME companies.
