예비초등교사들이 인식한 가정에서의 성역할에 대한 연구: 남녀 인식의 차이검증

Abstract

이 연구의 목적은 예비 초등교사들이 인식한 가정에서의 성역할을 부부 성역할, 부모 성역할 그리고 자녀관으로 세분하여 살펴보고 성별에 의한 인식수준의 차이여부를 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 전국 8개 교육대학 학생들을 대상으로 자기기입식 설문지를 사용하여 810부의 자료가 수집되었고, SPSS 프로그램을 사용하여 기술통계와 변량분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 부부 성역할에서 남녀 교육대학생들의 인식의 괴리가 극명하게 나타났는데, 고정적 성역할태도는 남학생이 여학생보다 유의하게 높은 반면에 양성평등적 성역할인식은 여학생집단이 유의하게 높았다. 부모 성역할에 관하여는 남학생들의 인식이 부부간 성역할에 대한 인식보다 훨씬 더 유연해지고 있음을 보여주었으나 여전히 육아에 있어 남성참여에 대한 인식수준은 여학생집단이 남학생보다 유의한 수준에서 높았다. 부모 됨에 관하여 남녀학생 모두 가치 있는 일이라고 응답하고 있었고 사회존속이라는 공적가치관에서는 남녀 유사한 수준의 인식을 보이고 있었으나 사적수준에서의 가계계승에 대한 인식은 여학생집단에서 유의한 수준에서 낮게 나타났다. 자녀의 필요성 역시 여학생보다 남학생집단에서 높게 나타났다. 결론적으로 본 연구는 미혼의 교육대학생들 집단에서 남학생과 여학생의 성역할에 대한 인식의 차이가 극명하게 존재함을 보여주었고, 연구자들은 그 괴리를 메울 수 있는 교육적 중재방안으로 유연한 성역할에 대한 인식전환과 의식개혁과 더불어 균형적 일-가정전이를 위한 교육의 필요성을 제안하였다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the gender role preception of the prospective elementary school teachers in practical arts subject. To meet the goal, a data set drawn from the 810 self-administered survey instrument developed by the authors was collected and analyzed with SPSS 21 in terms of the descriptive and variance analysis. The results of this study clearly evidenced the gender divide in marital gender role definitions. Male students inclined more toward traditional gender role definition while female students did toward egalitarian gender role definitions. In terms of parenting role definitions, both gender agreed the importance of father's participation in child rearing and female students showed stronger agreement with the father's involvement than male students. Being a parent valued by both gender. But child birth as a personal choice was strongly hold by female students whereas child birth as the virtue of family reproduction was still remained among the male students. In conclusions, authors of this study suggested that it is very urgent to enlighten and educate prospective elementary school teachers the flexible gender role definition and work-family balanced transition.
