동시대 미술 감상활동에서 나타난 유아 경험의 교육적 의미

Abstract

본 연구는 유아 미술 감상교육에서 유아들이 동시대 미술을 어떻게 경험하는지, 그 경험의 교육적 의미는 무엇인지 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 B 유치원 만 5세 행복반의 27명 유아를 연구 참여자로 선정하여 12회의 동시대 미술 감상활동을 실시하였다. 본 연구에서 수집한 자료는 감상활동 녹음, 현장 노트, 활동 동영상 및 사진, 교사 면담 등이었다. 연구 결과, 유아들은 동시대 미술을 통해 미술 표현유형의 다양성, 미술 감상형식의 개방성, 미술 작가에 대한 고정관념의 완화와 같은 인식의 변화를 경험하였다. 또 다양한 그리기 방법으로 표현하기, 몸- 행위로 표현하기, 과정 즐기기와 같은 다양한 미술 표현방식을 시도하는 경험을 하였다. 더불어 동시대 미술의 특징과 관련하여 동시대 미술 감상활동은 유아의 일상적 경험과 연결된 주제와 매체 탐색을 통한 호기심, 그리고 미술을 통한 소통과 참여를 유발하였다. 또 교수-학습 방법과 관련하여 미술 표현에 대한 자신감 향상, 유아의 자유로운 비평을 도모하였다. 마지막으로 교사의 역할과 관련하여 유아들의 자유로운 탐색을 돕고, 확산적 ·수렴적 사고를 촉진하였다. 이러한 결과를 통해 본 연구는 동시대 미술에 대한 전문 지식의 부족과 물리적 공간 부족 등의 제한점을 논하기 전에 유아 미술 감상교육에 동시대 미술을 도입하여 교육현장에서 적극적으로 활용할 수 있는 방안에 대한 심도 있는 논의와 노력이 필요함을 제안하였다.

This study is aimed at taking a look at how children have experienced contemporary art in art appreciation education for children and what is the educational meaning of their experience. For this purpose art appreciation activities were conducted for 12 times: the participants were 27 children of 5-year-old children at Haengbok Class in B Kindergarten. Various forms of data were collected and analyzed by qualitative methods such as recording of appreciation activity, on-the-spot notes, activity videos, photos, and interviews with teachers. The results showed that children experienced a change of awareness for the diversity of types of expression, openness of art appreciation formality, and relaxation of fixed concept for the artists. Children also experienced attempts of art expression methods such as the expression of various ways of drawing, expression with body-action and enjoyment of the course. Furthermore, contemporary art appreciation activity in relation with characteristics of contemporary art aroused curiosity through children's experience related with subjects, media exploration, communication, and participation through art. Further, contemporary art appreciation activities in relation with teacher-method of learning promoted the confidence of art expression and children's freedom of criticism. Finally, contemporary art appreciation activities in relation with teachers' roles helped the children's freedom of expressions and promoted divergent and convergent ways of thinking. Through such results this study suggests the necessity of deeper discussion and effort for the ways of positive usage on the educational spots by introduction of contemporary art in the art appreciation education for children.
