청소년의 욕망 생성과 소수자 되기를 위한 미디어교육 사례 연구: 청소년 미디어 동아리 ‘S.Y.Media’ 참여자들의 인식과 실천을 중심으로

Abstract

이 연구의 목적은 청소년들의 욕망 생성과 소수자 되기를 위한 청소년 미디어교육의 방안을 모색하는 데 있다. 이론적 논의로서 들뢰즈와 가타리의 소수자 개념과 욕망의 사유를 탐색하고, 이를바탕으로 청소년들이 기성세대의 시각에서 벗어나 스스로 주체성을 찾고 능동적 이용자로서 미디어능력을 개발 및 생성할 수 있는 미디어교육의 사례와 가능성을 분석하고자 한다. 연구방법은 청소년 미디어 동아리 ‘S.Y.Media’ 활동에 대한 참여관찰과 질적 심층인터뷰 및 초점집단인터뷰를활용했다. 분석결과, 청소년들은 부모, 학교, 미디어 등 다양한 신체와 결합하면서 욕망을 생성하거나 계열화에 종속되는 과정을 반복적으로 경험하며, 이 과정에서 사회참여적 정체성을 드러냈다. 이러한 정체성은 미디어교육을 통해 온라인공간에서 다수성에 저항하는 시도로 사회에 표출되고 있었으나 공교육에서의 미디어교육 배제나 주류 욕망의 잠식 가능성 등 사회적 문제로 인한한계를 나타냈다. 본 연구는 청소년이 미디어교육을 통해 사회적 보호 대상에 머무르는 게 아니라사회비판적 의식을 가진 소수자로서, 욕망을 지닌 다양체로서, 소수자 되기 과정을 살펴보았다는데 의의가 있다.

The purpose of this study is to seek out an adolescent media education method for producing of adolescents’ desires and becoming a minority. For this end, this study examines the possibility of becoming minorities on the basis of the concepts and thoughts on minority of Deleuze and Guattari, and discusses media education as a method to promote adolescent’s media competence as an active user away from older generation’s perspective. As theoretical methods, participatory observation in youth media club ‘S.Y.Media’ activities and qualitative in-depth interview and focus group interview with adolescents were implemented. The results showed that adolescents repetitively experienced the processes of producing desire or subordinating to a series of by combining various physical activities from parents, schools, and media. And social and participative identities were revealed through the process. This social and participative identity was expressed in public as a trial to resist against the majority in on-line space by way of media education, but it showed the limitations due to social problems of excluding media education from public education and the possibility of major desire’s encroachment. This study has a significance of examining the processes for adolescent's becoming minority, as minority with critical consciousness of society and manifold with desire, not the object of social protection through media education.
