청소년의 신뢰: 구체적 신뢰, 일반신뢰, 공적신뢰

Abstract

장차 시민사회의 구성원으로 성장할 청소년들이 청소년기에 경험하는 구체적 신뢰를 기반으로 한 연계경험은 사회의 안정성, 나아가 사회의 발전과 밀접한 관계에 있는 일반신뢰, 공적신뢰와 밀접한 관계를 가질 것이다. 본 연구의 목적은 사회구성원으로서의 청소년이 가지는 연계경험을 구체적 신뢰로 유형화하고 청소년의 일반신뢰, 공적신뢰와 더불어 신뢰유형들 간 관계를 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위해 서울시 고등학생 493명을 대상으로 세 가지 신뢰유형의 수준에 관한 설문조사를 실시하였고, 설문 응답자 중 게임실험(죄수의 딜레마 게임) 참여 의향을 밝힌 35명을 대상으로 청소년의 각 신뢰 유형 간 관계를 분석하였다. 주요 결과로, 첫째, 설문과 실험 모두에서 청소년의 구체적 신뢰는 일반신뢰와 상호 정적 관계인 것으로 밝혀졌다. 둘째, 청소년의 구체적 신뢰는 공적신뢰와 의미 있는 관계를 나타내지 않았다. 셋째, 일반신뢰와 공적신뢰 간 관계는 설문과 실험결과에서 혼재된 결과가 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 청소년의 각 신뢰 유형이 보이는 특성을 확인하였으며, 특히 구체적 신뢰가 성인의 사적 연결망과는 다른 의미로 재해석될 수 있는 근거를 도출하였다는 점에서 연구의 의의를 찾을 수 있다. 이에 청소년의 신뢰에 대한 연구의 필요성, 특히 구체적 신뢰에 대한 사회자본적 접근의 필요성을 제기하였다.

This study was aimed at classifying the way that adolescents operate as members of society in terms of specific trust and identifying its relationship with both general and public trust. The relationships among the trust types were studied on the assumption that the relationships of adolescence operate as a form of social capital. To this end, a survey and an experimental game were conducted regarding the levels of the three trust types. The main results are as follows: First, according to both the survey and the experimental game, adolescents’ specific trust was in a positive relation with general trust. Second, adolescents’ specific trust did not indicate any meaningful relationship with public trust. Finally, the relationship between general trust and public trust revealed mixed results. This study is expected to form a contribution to discussions related to trust in that it deduced grounds for reinterpretation from the perspective of social capital regarding teenagers’ specific trust. Moreover, this study is valuable because it introduced experimental games as a tool to identify behavioral aspects in measurement methods, as opposed to simply relying solely upon evaluation methods based on self-reporting.
