공공역사 사인색채의 시각 인지 특성 분석 - 한일 지하철 역사의 비교를 중심으로 -

Abstract

최근 공공디자인의 개선을 위한 다양한 움직임과 함께, 지역의 개성과 편의성을 존중한 공공공간 색채환경의 조성도 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 그러나 주변과의 경관적 조화나 기능적인 측면에서의 발전에 비해 시각장애인과 고령자와 같은 사회적 약자를 비롯한 다양한 연령과 계층을 고려한 색채의 시각 인지성 향상에 대한 연구는 아직도 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 공공역사 사인색채의 시각 인지성 향상을 위한 개선방향 도출을 주요한 목적으로, 서울과 도쿄 주요 역사의 사인색채를 조사, 분석하고 시각 인지성 개선방향을 도출하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 최근 국내의 사인색채가 이전의 단순한 고채도색 위주에서 공공성을 고려한 세련되고 조화로운 색채로 변화되고 있었으나, 장소의 특성고려와 다양한 사용자를 고려한 시각 인지성 향상이 요구되고 있었다. 둘째, 서울시 공공역사를 대상으로 진행한 사인색채 현황을 조사 분석한 결과, 색채의 명시성과 주목성이 전체적으로 낮고 유형에 따른 색채적용의 통일성은 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 서울과 도쿄의 사인색채를 비교 분석한 결과, 일본의 사인색채가 노약자와 시약자와 같은 신체약자를 고려한 명시성과 주목성에서 높은 결과를 보여주고 있었다. 또한 국내의 경우 유형에 따른 사인색채의 통일성과 유지관리가 요구되었고, 색채 외에 사인과 배치 등에서 개선점이 요구되었다. 이 연구가 시각장애인을 고려한 공공역사 사인색채의 시각인지 환경 개선에 기본적인 시사점을 제공하길 바란다.

Along with recent diverse movements to improve public design, in public color also, attempts to build color environment that respects the identity and the sustainable design. However, compared with lots of developments in the landscape and functional aspects, researches on the enhancement of visual cognition of color in consideration of diverse age groups and classes including the vulnerable members of society such as the blind and the aged are still in short supply. This research with the main purpose of deriving the improvement plans for the enhancement of visual cognition of sign color of public works, sign colors of main works of Seoul and Tokyo were investigated and analyzed, and the improvement plans for visual perception were derived. The results of research are as follows. First, Seoul’s sign color has been changing from previous high chromatic color to refined and stable color in consideration of public, but consideration for the characteristics of places and the enhancement of visual perception were required. Second, the results of the investigation and analysis of sign color of our country’s public works showed that the individuality of places and the attractiveness of color were generally low. Third, the results of comparative analysis of sign color of Seoul and Tokyo showed that Japan’s sign color showed higher results in the explicitness and attractiveness in consideration of the elderly and the weak and people with weak eyesight. Also, in the case of our country, unity and maintenance management of sign color according to types were required and improvements of signs and arrangements besides color were required. This research is expected to contribute to basic implications for the improvement of color environment in consideration of visually impaired persons and to creating more considerate color environment for public designs.
