간호대학생들의 가계도 작성 정확성과 자신감

Abstract

본 연구는 간호대학생들이 가계도를 정확하게 작성하는지와 가계도 작성에 대해 자신감이 있는지를 알아보고자 시도되었다. 연구결과 가계도 정확성에서 간호대학생들은 사람의 상징, 연령, 관계표시, 사망력 부분에서 정확성이 낮았고, 병력은 정확하게 작성하지 못 했다. 참여자들은 가계도를 접해본 경험에 차이가 있었고, 강의와 실습 동안 반복적으로 노출될 기회가 있었던 참여자들은 가계도를 잘 그릴 수 있다고 확신하였다. 이에반해 가계도를 그리는 것을 어려워한 학생들은 크게 가계도에 포함될 자신의 가족에 대한 정보를 정확히 몰라서 어려움이 있다는 학생과 가계도 작성방법과 관련하여 어떠한 상징을 사용하거나 어떤 정보를 가계도에 적어야 하는지 정확히 몰라서 어려움이 있다는 학생들이있었다. 따라서 학생들간의 격차를 줄이기 위해 교과과정에가계도 작성과 관련된 교육내용이 강화될 필요가 있으며 학년이 높아짐에 따라 자신감이 더 커질 수 있도록강의뿐만 아니라 실습과목에서도 반복 학습이 필요하다고 생각된다. 그리고 가계도의 활용이 점차 다양화해지고 있으므로 기본적인 가계도 작성 이외에도 다양한실제 사례를 활용하는 것도 정확성과 자신감 향상 면에서 도움이 될 것이라고 여겨진다. 본 연구에서는 4학년 학생만을 대상으로 하였는데 추후 연구에서는 다양한 학년을 포함하여 가계도 작성 능력뿐만 아니라 가계도 작성에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인에 관해 연구가될 필요가 있다.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore nursing students' competence in drawing an accurate family pedigree. Methods: Thirty nine Korean college senior nursing students (average age, 22.3 years; range, 21~30 years) participated in this study. Data were collected from September to November 2014. After obtaining permission from the participants, each participants constructed pedigree based on their own family history and they were interviewed about their competence in drawing a family pedigree as a group. Each session for group interview was audio-taped and transcribed. The pedigrees were evaluated for its accuracy. The responses of participants were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Results: The main themes of the sessions were “unequal opportunities in learning about a family pedigree,” “feeling competent in drawing a family pedigree,” “having difficulty with drawing a family pedigree,” and “knowing the family history incompletely.” Although most of the participants perceived the importance of family pedigree positively, some of them stated that they are not comfortable drawing pedigree because they did not know the details and did not have a chance to practice it repeatedly. Moreover, participants hoped to learn more how to draw a family pedigree. Conclusion: The education on family pedigree should be reenforced to increase nursing students' competence in drawing an accurate pedigree for themselves and clients. In addition, the educators should consider individual differences.
