HEXACO 성격요인과 창업가정신, 기업성과 간의 관련성 연구

Abstract

혁신주도의 경제 패러다임 시대는 과거 요소주도, 효율주도의 경제 패러다임과 달리 창의적 상상력과 융복합적 사고를 요구한다. 창업가정신은 이러한 시대적 과제를 해결하고 선진국으로 진입하기 위한 정신혁명의 선두에 위치해 있다고 말할 수 있다. 선행연구들은 창업가정신이 기업성과에 대해 유의적인 정(+)의 영향을 미치고 있음을 밝히고 있으며, 창업가정신의 영향요인을 심리적, 배경적, 환경적 특성 등으로 분류하여 체계화하였다. 그러나 성격요인이 창업가정신에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구는 다소 미흡한 것이 사실이다. 본 연구는 Big 5 대신에 최근 타당성을 인정받고 있는 HEXACO 성격요인에 대한 문헌고찰은 물론 성격 6요인과 창업가정신, 창업가정신과 기업성과 간의 관련성에 대한 통합적 구조모형을 구축하고 실증적으로 분석하였다. 실증분석 결과 HEXACO 성격요인 중 외향성, 성실성, 개방성은 창업가정신에 대해 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으나 정직성, 정서성, 원만성은 창업가정신에 대해 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 창업가정신은 기업성과에 대해 유의적인 정(+)의 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 밝혀져 대다수의 선행연구와 일치하고 있다. 아울러 창업가정신은 성실성, 개방성과 기업성과 간의 관계를 매개하는 것으로 밝혀졌다.

This study is an empirical research on the relationships between entrepreneur's HEXACO personality, entrepreneurship and the firm performance. The results from this study are as follows: First of all, the hypothesis regarding the influence of entrepreneur's extraversion, conscientiousness and openness to experience on entrepreneurship has turned out to be adopted. Secondly, the hypothesis regarding the influence of entrepreneur's honesty-humility, emotionality and agreeableness on entrepreneurship has turned out to be rejected. Thirdly, the hypothesis regarding the influence of entrepreneurship on firm performance turned out to be adopted. Finally, we find that entrepreneurship plays a mediation role between conscientiousness and the firm performance, and between openness to experience and the firm performance.
