프랑스의 국가정체성 형성 초기 상황에 대한 연구

Abstract

프랑스 혁명은 인간이 평등하고 모든 구속에서 자유롭다는 사상을 전파한가장 혁신적인 계기였다. 새로운 국가체제에 맞는 국민들의 의식이 바로 국가정체성이다. 국가의 단합을 위한 국민의 자세인 국가정체성은 사실 여러 인종과종족으로 구성된 프랑스에서는 형성되기 어려운 것이었다. 하지만, 보불 전쟁을비롯한 역사적 사건들을 통해서 프랑스는 국가정체성을 다져갔다. 하지만그 정체성 형성은 시간을 통해서만 다져진 수동적인 결과물은 아니었다. 본고에서 제시한 독일과 프랑스의 역사학파들의 흐름은 프랑스의 정체성 형성기의사상적 기반을 잘 보여주는 것이라고 할 수 있다. 본고에서는 프랑스의 국가정체성이 형성되어야 했던 필요와 프랑스 역사학파, 특히 미슐레의 사상을 통해국가정체성의 사상적 기반을 알아보는데 주안점을 두고 있다.

The French Revolution played a big role in spreading the idea that man isequal and free. After the Revolution, France needed a new spirit which couldunite the nation under a national identity appropriate to the new political systemof France. In fact, it was difficult to achieve the ideal construction of nationalidentity for the unity of the people where a nation is composed of differentraces and ethnicities as in France. Regardless, France achieved its own nationalidentity through several historical events including the Franco-German War of1870. What we note is that the national identity of France is not somethingthat was obtained passively by the passing of time, but that there were ideological foundations underneath the identity formation, to which, this paper argues, thehistorical schools in Germany and France contributed. This paper also demonstrateswhy there was a need for the construction of national identity in France andexamines the ideological foundations of the national identity formation throughthe ideas of J. Michelet.
