치유환경을 위한 지원적 디자인 적용 사례 분석 -매기센터를 중심으로-

Abstract

매기센터는 암환자들과 그 보호자들을 위하여 정보제공과 지원을 하기 위해 설립되었다, 이 센터는 암환자들의 요구에 부합하는 실용적이고 정서적이며 사회적인 지원을 제공한다. 이 연구의 목적은 물리적 환경이 건강과 안녕에 어떤 방식으로 영향을 미칠 수 있는지, 매기센터 사례에 적용된 어떤 물리적 환경요소가 환자들과 가족들이 지닌 스트레스를 완화하고 긍정적인 정서적인 상태와 웰빙에 영향을 주는지를 조사하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 13개의 매기센터 사례를 분석하였다. 건축가를 통하여 매기센터는 특별한 안식처를 제공하고 있다. 주요한 특성은 1)주방에 인접한 비형식적인 만남의 장소 제공 2)약 280m2규모의 집과 같은 분위기 제공, 3)자연의 경관과 정원과 연결성, 4)개방되고 연결된 배치이지만 외부에서는 안으로 보호된 공간 제공, 5)다양한 색채와 자연적인 재료의 사용을 들 수 있다. 치유개념이 적용된 매기센터의 사례들은 국내에 이러한 독특한 환경을 소개하고 제공하는데 기여할 수 있다.

Maggie's centre established to provide information and support for cancer patients and their families. The centers offer the practical, emotional, and social support that people with cancer need. The purpose of this study is to investigate how physical environment impact health and well-being and what kinds of physical environment features are applied to Maggie’s centre cases in order to relieve stress of patients and families and bring positive emotional state and wellbeing. Among Maggie’s centers, 13 cases were analyzed. By incorporating architecture, Maggie’s centre provide a unique sanctuary. Major characteristics are 1)providing informal meeting and gathering space adjacent to kitchen, 2)home atmosphere with approximately 280m2 size, 3)connection to natural views and gardens 4)open and connected but enclosed structure from outside, and 5)a variety of colors and natural materials and finishes. Healing concepts through Maggie’s centre cases could contribute to introduce and provide such a unique environment to domestic.
