동태적 공간패널 계량모형을 이용한 지역 소득 수렴성 검정과 자본축적

Abstract

본 연구는 Mankiw et al.(1992)의 성장모형에 Ertur and Koch(2007)가 고려한 기술수준의 공간 상호의존성과 기술파급효과를 도입하는 동태적 공간패널계량모형을 이용하여 1989년부터 2011년까지 한국의 13개시도 간 소득 수렴성 여부를 검정하였다. 분석결과 한국지역 간 공간종속성이 존재하는 것으로 밝혀졌고, 단순Solow모형에 대한 공간시차모형(SAM)분석에서 공간고정효과와 공간 및 시간고정효과를 동시에 고려하는 모형에서 장기균제상태로 수렴하는 것으로 나타났다. 인적자본을 도입하는 Mankiw et al.(1992)모형을 공간더빈모형(SDM)이나 SAM으로 분석한 결과에서도 모두 수렴현상을 발견할 수 있었다. 공간의존성의 피드백효과를 포함하는 직접효과와 인접지역으로의 파급효과를 고려하는 간접효과까지 합한 총 효과의 값이 초기소득 회귀추정 계수 값보다 크게 나타나 수렴속도가 훨씬 더 빠르게 나타났다. 또한 인적 및 물적자본, 인구증가율 등 설명변수들의 추정 값들이 유의하고 이론적 관계를 뒷받침하였다. 특히 SDM분석에는 인적자본 축적의 중요성이 SAM모형에서는 물적자본 축적의 중요성이 제시되었다. 그러나 분석의 한계유의수준을 강화할 때 선택되는 SAM분석에서 지역 경제성장과 지역 간 파급효과를 위해서는 인적자본과 물적자본의 동시축적이 중요하지만 후자가 더 중요한 지역변수임을 발견할 수 있었다.

In this paper, a spatial dynamic panel data approach including including a global spatial Durbin model and spatial lag model is adopted to analyse growth convergence of 13 Korean regions in the period 1989~2011. We introduce technology spillover into the neoclassical framework and Mankiw et al.(1992) including spatial interdependence. In simple Solow-Swan model analysis, these results do support convergence hypothesis of regional incomes. Through Mankiw et al.(1992)model including human capital, we find that there is a positive spillover effect of growth among regions, and that convergence speed rate would be faster than the model without spatial interdependence. There is evidence that both investment in human capital and physical capital matter not only for growth of the economy itself, but also for the growth of neighboring economies. The results indicate a strong spatial interdependence among Korean regional income.
