정신건강 전공 및 직무 교육이 취약계층 정신건강문제에 대한 사회복지사 실천에 미치는 영향 - 실천효능감의 매개효과를 중심으로 -

Abstract

지역사회의 공공 및 민간 복지기관에서 정신건강문제를 가진 클라이언트를 위한 지속적이고 책임성 있는 개입의 중요성이 증가하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 정신건강 전공교육과 직무교육이 교육내용의 현장 적용을 촉진하는 실천효능감 요인을 매개로 사회복지사 실천에 영향을 미치는 구조적 관계를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 수도권 소재 사회복지관련기관의 실무자 400명을 대상으로 정신건강문제가 있는 취약계층에 대한 개입실태 자료를 수집하고 구조방정식을 활용한 분석을 실시하여 다음 결과를 도출하였다. 첫째, 사회복지사 실천에 대한 정신건강 전공교육의 직접 효과는 유의하지 않은 반면, 실천효능감을 통한 간접 효과는 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 사회복지사 실천에 대한 정신건강 직무교육의 직접 효과 및 실천효능감을 통한 간접 효과는 모두 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 결론에서는 정신건강에 관한 대학 전공교육과 현장 직무교육의 중요성 및 이러한 교육에 요구되는 교수 전략에 대한 함의를 제시하였다.

It is important for social workers in public and private agencies to be able to provide services to clients with mental health problems in a continuous and accountable manner. This study investigated the structural relationship between education and interventions to these clients as mediated by practice efficacy. Four hundred social workers were recruited from local government offices, community welfare centers, and workfare agencies in Seoul Metropolitan Area for a survey on their intervention to those clients; the data were analyzed through structural equational modeling. The results showed that the direct effect of college courses on intervention was not significant while their effect, mediated by practice efficacy, was significant. On the other hand, the effect of continuing education was found to be significant, both directly and indirectly, mediated by practice efficacy. Based on these results, the importance of formal and continuing education on mental health issues was emphasized, and implications for teaching strategies required of these types of education were discussed.
