창작무용극 「도미부인」을 통해 본 도미설화의 현대적 변용과 공연미학

Abstract

본 논문은 창작무용극 도미부인의 스토리텔링 및 공연미학을 살펴보고자 하였다. 도미부인은 삼국시대의 구전문학을 현대적 언어로 재구성하여 21세기 대중들에게 다가가는데 성공한 작품이기 때문이다. 연구 결과 창작무용극 「도미부인」은 원작 설화에 비추어 공연 공간의 변화를 꾀함으로써 공연 미학적 측면에서 특별한 의미를 부여하고 있었다. 스토리 구조는 그레마스 이론에 따라 최초 상황에서 최후 상황으로 변형될 때 양자 사이에 ‘시련(epreuve)’이 존재하며, 도미부부 이야기가 자격시련-근본시련-영광시련의 완결성을 가지고 탄탄하게 조직되었음을 확인하였다. 또한 음악적으로는 무용극 전반에 국악 관현악을 배치하여 “음악과 무용의 완전한 합치”의 가능성을 보여주었으며, 다양한 장르의 국악을 배치하여 고대설화의 현대적 재해석과 공연미학이 표출되었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이는 향후 전통서사를 중심으로 한 새로운 민족춤극의 제작과 연출의 방향성에 대해 제시하는 바가 크다 하겠다.

This paper examines the storytelling and the performance aesthetic of “Madame Domi” of the Creative Dance Theater. This is because Madame Domi succeeded in reaching the public of the 21st century by reconstructing the oral tradition of the Three Kingdoms period in a modern language. Research result, The creative dance drama “Mrs. Domi” gave a special meaning to the performance aesthetic by changing the performance space in the light of the original story. The story structure is characterized by the existence of 'epreuve' between the two when transforming from the initial situation to the final situation according to the Gremas theory, and the stories of the married couple are firmly organized with the completion of qualification trials–Respectively. In addition, musically, we showed the possibility of “perfect harmony of music and dance” by arranging Korean traditional orchestra in the whole dance drama, and it was confirmed that modern reinterpretation and performance aesthetics of ancient folklore were expressed by arranging various genres of Korean classical music. This suggests the direction of making and directing a new national dance drama centered on traditional narratives in the future.
