- Abstract
- This purpose of this research is to analyze the Joseon Dynasty and the modern era's tendency on research on time. Recently, there was research based on astronomy to understand the Joseon Dynasty's research on time concept and the view of the world.
The modern era's research on time includes the application process of new time order. The spread of punctuality, the concept of economy of time, and acceleration of daily life through missionary works, newspapers, trains, and schools have been studied empirically. The change of time system is studied by finding the introduction of week cycle, the backlash and the historical background of it.
This paper will suggest a new perspective of research on time by putting historical gap and continuity and possibility of interdisciplinary study to its base. This new perspective will become the beginning of taking down the wall between different era's time and overcoming dichotomy of pre-modern and modern and discuss new time concept for the future.
