광고를 활용한 다문화 교육이유아의 다문화 인식에 미치는 효과

Abstract

본 연구는 광고를 활용한 유아 다문화 교육 활동이 유아의 다문화 인식에 미치는 효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 연구대상은 경기도 A시에 소재한 H사립유치원 세 학급의 만 5세 유아 77명으로 실험집단 22명과 비교집단 28명, 그리고 통제집단 27명으로 배정하였다. 실험처치는 8월 10일부터 6주간 주 2회씩 총 12회의 활동으로 진행되었으며 실험집단 유아들은 광고를 활용한 다문화교육 활동에, 비교집단은 교육인적자원부(2007)의 유아를 위한 세계 이해 및 다문화 교육 활동에, 그리고 통제집단은 생활주제 ‘가을’ 관련 활동에 참여하였다. 광고를 활용한 다문화 교육 활동을 적용한 후 유아의 다문화 인식에 미치는 영향을 살펴본 결과 광고를 활용한 유아 다문화 교육 활동은 성, 장애, 인종, 나이, 직업 등 유아의 다문화 인식에 긍정적인 효과를 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 광고를 활용한 유아 다문화 교육의 유아교육현장 적용 가능성을 입증한 것이라 할 수 있다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a multicultural education activity using advertisements on young children's multicultural perceptions. The subjects used in this study were 77 of 5 aged children in three kindergarten classes. They were divided into three groups; an experimental group, a comparative group, and a controlled group. The pre-test and post-test were conducted in order to measure the effect of the experimental treatment. In order to measure the multicultural perception of young children, the instrument was revised based on ‘Multicultural competence scale’ and ‘Verbal checklist’. The result showed that multicultural education activities through use of advertisements had the positive effects on the young children’s multicultural perceptions. Thus, it suggests that multicultural education activities with advertisements can be available as an effective approach for improving young children’s multicultural perceptions.
