Abstract
‘Who am I’ is the question human beings ask to themselves from the birth to death. This study is focused on the Self-Portrait program for Self -Esteem. Establishment of self-esteem helps people realize the importance of the values of themselves and their existence consciousness, through which they focus their lives on the bright side and make themselves moral, mature and creative human beings who can respect themselves and others. Especially, self-esteem made up in elementary school days, has an effect on the whole of human life. This study aims to investigate how their self-esteem changes by taking self-portrait that express themselves. The results are as following. The self-portrait with photography education showed improved self-esteem of elementary school students. Also, girl and boy students showed improved self-esteem, but boy students had higher self-esteem in appearance than the girl students. As for grade, grade4·5·6 students showed the higher self-esteem than grade3. Through the self-portrait taking program, self-esteem of students has improved. It means that the elementary school students could know about themselves and to investigate themselves. They could better their lives by building positive self-esteem.
