- Abstract
- A general analysis of aperture-coupled vertically mounted (VM) strip transmission line is presented with the goal of developing an equivalent circuit. An efficient evaluation of the related circuit element values is also described. Using the computed circuit element values, the effects of frequency and structure parameters of the aperture and the VM strip transmission line on the characteristics of the coupling structure were studied. To check the validity of the proposed analysis and design theory, a C-band transition was optimally designed and fabricated. Its computed characteristics, derived from the proposed network analysis, were compared with the measurement and simulation results. Reasonable agreement was observed, fully validating the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed network model.
