- Abstract
- Two-dimensional Ring-banyan network is a high-performance fault-tolerant switching network using a deflection self-routing. The throughput of 1024 x 1024 switching network is better than that of cyclic banyan network by 20.4% when the hot ratio is 0.8 and the input traffic load is 0.9. In this paper, we prove the correctness of the deflection self-routing algorithm of two-dimensional Ring-banyan network. We also present mathematical analysis of the reliability of the fault-tolerant switching network to allow quantitative comparison against other switching networks. We present the mean-time-to-failure that is calculated by using probabilistic model, in which we take into account a hardware complexity. In case of 16 x 16 size, the presented switching network is 1.275 times more reliable than Hui's switching network. And it is 1.510 times more reliable than Hui's network in case of 64 x 64 size. Additionally, by using simulation, we show that the proposed network has better performance than the other network under non-uniform traffic. (c) 2008 Elsevier GmbH. All rights reserved.
