교수-학생 간 수업 외 상호작용이 학생의 대학생활 적응에 미치는 영향 잠재성장모형(LGM) 분석

Abstract

본 연구는 대학생의 학교 부적응이 심각한 문제로 인식되고 있는 현 시점에서 수업 외에 이루어지는 교수와 학생 간 상호작용이 학생의 대학생활 적응에 영향을 미칠 것이라는 가정 하에 두 변인 간 종단적 영향 관계를 밝힐 목적으로 수행되었다. 「한국교육종단연구(KELS) 2005」의 7차(2011년), 8차(2012년), 9차 연도(2014년) 자료 가운데 국내 4년제 대학 재학생 2,270명의 응답자료를 토대로 잠재성장모형(Latent Growth Model) 분석 방법을 활용하여 시간 경과에 따른 교수-학생 간 상호작용 및 학생의 대학생활 적응 수준의 변화와 두 변수 간 영향관계를 분석하고, 성별, 대학만족도 등의 예측변수를 추가 투입하여 확장된 모형을 분석하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 교수-학생의 수업 외 상호작용과 대학생활 적응 수준은 시간 경과에 따라 상승하는 변화모형을 따르고 있었다. 둘째, 교수-학생 상호작용의 변화율은 대학생활 적응의 변화율에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나, 교수와 수업 시간 외 상호작용이 많은 학생일수록 학년이 올라감에 따라 대학생활에 더 잘 적응한다는 것이 확인되었다. 셋째, 예측변수 중 대학만족도, 현 대학 입학희망 정도가 경로계수에 유의한 영향을 미쳤으며, 예측변수 투입 후에도 교수-학생의 수업 외 상호작용과 대학생활 적응 간 영향이 여전히 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 대학생들의 대학생활 적응도를 향상시킬 수 있는 핵심 요인으로서 교수-학생의 수업 외 상호작용 증진에 기여할 수 있는 정책적 시사점을 도출하여 제시하였다.

This study seeks to reveal the longitudinal influence of faculty-student interaction upon students’college life adaptation in Korea. Utilizing responses of 2,270 four-year college students included in the 7th (2011), 8th (2012) and 9th year (2014) of the "KELS 2005", we examined the relationship between the two variables over time using multivariate latent growth model analysis method. We found that the degree of faculty-student interaction and the adaptation level of college students increased over time. It is confirmed that faculty-student interaction has a positive effect on the college life adaptation of students, which means that students who interact more with professors outside of the class better adapt to college life over time. Moreover, the relationship between the two variables was still significant after putting predictive variables such as satisfaction with college and desirability of college into the model. Based on the results, we suggested policy implications that could enhance faculty-student interaction as a key factor to prevent college dropouts and improve students' adaptation to college life.
