Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationships among intellectual ability, executive function, language ability and self-regulation ability of young children. The subjects of this study were 195 whose mean age was 62.38 months. The research data were collected by ‘K-ABC-Ⅱ’, ‘Cool-executive function(Stroop like day-night task, Card sorting task)’, ‘Hot-executive function(Less is more task, Sticker search task)’, ‘Receptive Expressive Vocabulary Test: REVT’ and ‘The Self-Regulation Inventory for young children’. Pearson correlation and Step-Wise Multi Regression were used to analyze the data. The results showed that there were positive correlations among intellectual ability, executive function, language ability and self-regulation ability. Moreover, the result of this study indicated that language ability was the most significant predictor of intellectual ability. Secondly, executive function was an additional positive variable that predicts the intellectual ability. Futhermore, the results of this study indicated that ‘expressive language’ which is a subordinate factor of language ability was the most significant predictor of intellectual ability. In additionally, ‘cool executive function’ and ‘hot executive function’ which are subordinate factor of executive function, and the ‘receptive language’ which is a subordinate factor of language ability were found to be an additional predictive factors that predict intellectual ability.
