정비석의 소설 자유부인 과 ‘박인수 사건’을 통해 본 신문 매체의 전후여성 담론

Abstract

전쟁 이후 국가 재건과 맞물려 모든 것이 재구축되던 시기에 전후의 여성들을 어떻게 위치 지을 것인가 하는 문제는 중요한 이데올로기적 과제였다. 신문은 전쟁을 거치며 황폐화된 국토를 재건하듯이, 정조를 잃은 우리의 아내와 딸들의 육체를 회복시키는 방향으로 기조를 세운다. 1954년에 있었던 소설 ‘자유부인 논쟁’과 그 다음해에 있었던 ‘박인수 사건’은 이러한 경향을 가장 상징적으로 보여준 사건이었으며, 신문 매체에 의해 주도되고 충동된 경향이 강한 사건이기도 하다. 이 연구는 두 사건에 대한 보도 내용들을 면밀히 검토하면서 신문이 대중들을 대상으로 전후 여성의 이미지를 새롭게 구축하여 전파하는 방식을 분석하였다. 신문은 전후 여성을 타락한 부정적 현대 여성의 이미지로 각색한 후, 이러한 낙인에서 벗어나기 위해서는 스스로를 단속하고 순결을 지키는 방식으로 나아가야만 한다는 대중적 담론을 형성하였다. 이로써 신문 매체는 새 국가 체제에 적합한 숙녀 되기를 전후 여성의 과제로 제안하고 견인할 수 있는 담론 생산의 주도권을 갖게 된다.

It is a socially important ideological task to play a role in postwar women in the period of national reconstruction after the war. As the newspaper rebuilt the devastated land through war, it moved toward restoring the bodies of our wives and daughters who lost their chastity. The 1954 novel ‘Free Women’s Debate’ and the ‘Park In-Soo' incident the following year were the most symbolic of this trend. And this is also a strong incentive driven by the newspaper media. This study examined the way in which newspapers newly constructed and spread the image of postwar women to the public, while closely examining the reports on the two cases. The newspapers form a post-war woman with the image of a depraved negative modern woman, and form a popular discourse that must escape from these stigmatisms in order to control themselves and keep purity. As a result, the newspapers have the initiative to produce discourses that can propose and attract women as post-war women to become ladies suitable for the new national system.
